The short version: no account, and your codes, scans and styles stay on your phone. We collect anonymous usage statistics (never the content of your codes), the free version shows Google AdMob ads, and purchases go through Google Play.

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how the QR Nova app for Android ("QR Nova", "the app", "we") handles information. QR Nova is built to work on your device: you don't create an account, and the QR codes, barcodes, scans and styles you make are stored only on your phone.

If you have questions, contact us at edwardsundarsingh12@gmail.com.

Data stored on your device

The following is saved in a local database and files on your phone. We never receive it and cannot see it:

  • Codes you create: the content you enter (links, WiFi details, contacts, payment IDs and so on), the style of each code, file names and folders.
  • Scan history: the content of codes you scan, the detected type and the time of the scan.
  • Style presets, favourite colours and settings, such as theme, default export size and scanner feedback.
  • Images you add, such as a logo or background photo, which are copied into the app's private storage so your design keeps working.

Uninstalling the app or clearing its data deletes all of this permanently, unless you made a backup file yourself.

Permissions we ask for

PermissionWhy
CameraTo scan QR codes and barcodes, and to take a photo for a logo if you choose to. Camera frames are processed on your device by Google ML Kit and are never stored or uploaded. The app works without it; you just can't use the live scanner.
Photos / images you pickOnly the image you select with the system picker, used to scan a code from a picture or as a logo or background.
VibrationFeedback when a code is scanned. You can turn it off in Settings.
Internet and network stateTo load ads, process purchases through Google Play and send anonymous usage statistics. Creating, styling, scanning and exporting work offline.
Advertising IDUsed by Google AdMob to show and measure ads in the free version (see below).

Usage analytics

QR Nova uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand which features are used, so we can improve the app. It records events such as "a QR code was generated" with its type (for example WiFi or Website), "a code was scanned" with its detected kind, "a template was applied" and "an ad was shown", together with standard device information such as device model, Android version, app version and approximate country.

We never send the content of your codes or scans: no links, WiFi passwords, contact details or payment IDs leave your phone through analytics. Firebase data is processed under Google's Firebase privacy terms.

Advertising

The free version shows banner, interstitial and optional rewarded ads from Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and information about ad interactions to show and measure ads, and in some regions to personalise them. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalised ads, in your Android settings under Google > Ads.

See how Google uses information from apps that use its services. Premium subscribers and lifetime owners do not see ads.

Purchases

Premium is sold through Google Play Billing. Google handles payment and we never see your card or payment details. The app only receives confirmation of which plan you own, so it can unlock Premium and restore it later.

Backup files

Backup & restore creates a file containing your codes, history, presets and settings, saved where you choose. That file is yours: we don't upload it anywhere. Treat it like any personal file, because it may include things like WiFi passwords you turned into QR codes.

Sharing and selling

We do not sell your data, and we don't share it except with the service providers described above (Google Firebase, Google AdMob and Google Play) to run the app. When you share a code or export an image, it goes only where you send it.

Children

QR Nova is a general-audience utility and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided information through the app, contact us and we will help remove it.

Your choices and rights

  • Delete individual codes and scans, or everything, inside the app at any time.
  • Clear the app's data or uninstall it to remove all locally stored information.
  • Deny or revoke the camera permission in Android settings.
  • Reset your advertising ID or opt out of personalised ads in Android settings.
  • Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete data held by our providers. Contact us and we'll help.

Changes to this policy

If we change how QR Nova handles data, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
